Week 1 newsletter

I am very excited to get this year off and rolling. I have many exciting opportunities for learning planned for this year. Each week, I will post this newsletter to keep you informed on upcoming events and important information for our class.

MONDAY has a lot going on!  Each week you can expect this newsletter via a post to the blog on Mondays.  Also on Monday, a paper reading log will come home too. Please help your student remember that the reading log must be completely filled out by the student (except your signature) to receive full credit. They are expected to read 150 minutes weekly. Additionally, the first book report (Biography book) will be due on October 29 (instructions coming out later this week).  Reading a book report book counts for reading minutes at home.
Mondays are also the day I check assignment books. To receive full credit, they must be signed by a parent or guardian. It would not be a bad idea to check a few extra times the first few weeks. Starting next Monday the students will bring their list their of spelling words home on a separate sheet.

Lastly, the bible verse to be memorized will always be in this weekly post. The students will also write it in their assignment books every Monday.

It was great meeting you all on Friday night at the Back to School Night.  The document with of all the information I presented can be found on my blog on the right sidebar.  In an effort to stay academically connected to your child, please let me know of any pertinent information that will specifically help or hinder your child’s learning opportunities at any point in time.

Here is our class schedule.  I will keep a current copy on the blog all year, if you need to refer back to it.

Lastly, I have a somewhat personal request to ask of you all.  Until November, I am an assistant coach for my son’s high school water polo team.  I have to leave to make it to practices and games by 3:10 everyday.  I was wondering if any of you would have the freedom to supervise my class in carpool from 3:05 until 3:25.  I have created a signup, so you can sign up, if you are willing and able.  I appreciate your generosity!

This week's bible verse: "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."  Romans 12:18 (Test on Friday 9/16)
