Week 3 Newsletter

As you see below in our upcoming events, we will be having our first math test this week.  You can always expect a review sheet coming home for each test one to two days prior.  I will instruct all of the students to bring these reviews home, whether or not they finish them in class.  Please take time with them to confirm their knowledge.  For every math test, I will allow for some extra credit to be earned.  If the review is turned in at 100%, they will earn +3% to their test score.  If they earn 99% or lower, they will earn +1% on their test score.  I will encourage them to ask you go over it with them, but I would ask that you not provide the answers.  Instead please help them with the learning they need to answer the questions on their own.  Encourage them to know “how” to solve each problem.

Information about the biography book report will come home on October 17th so for right now the students are just reading their books. On October 17, they should bring their biography into the classroom.  We will use it for two days in-class, then they will need to hold onto the book until they are  finished with the report.  Please remind them not to turn it in until the report is completed.

Box Tops are can be brought in at any time this year.  Don’t forget to label the bag with 4K.  How many can we bring in with this year???
Thank you all for your help at home with helping your student study for the spelling test, memorize bible verses, and signing the assignment book and reading logs.  Please do remember that one of my goals is to help your student to become more self-sufficient.  Please continue to help them by gradually handing off the responsibility to them. But, please be aware...STARTING NEXT WEEK, ALL LATE WORK WILL LOSE 10%.  My goal is for them to gain more responsibility in completing all of their homework.
