Week 14 Newsletter

Welcome 2017!

**This was written before Christmas Break due to my family vacation.  Please excuse any unforeseen changes.**

I hope each one of you had an enjoyable break filled with family, friends, and fellowship. I will return to the classroom on Monday, January 9. I will respond to all correspondances at that point in time.

As we begin a new trimester, there are two notable changes.  First, late assignments will be awarded with –20% if they are not turned in the morning (or other designated time) they are due.  Second, if a student has three or more late assignments in one week (M-F) they will assigned lunch detention of the following Monday (or first day of the week).  These penalties will continue throughout the rest of the year and will the same in 5th grade.

Our newest book report is going to be based on a fantasy book. The students will have a chance to do nearly any report they would like. Look for more information to come home on Jan. 9. They should be done reading the book by Jan 16 to properly prepare for the presentation.

Finally, some assignments will become a little longer and more thought provoking, although most nights of homework should not exceed 20 minutes (excluding reading).  If your student is spending more than 20 minutes regularly, please let me know.
