All students will be performing their speeches multiple times this week and should already be memorized. In 4th grade we do not post the speech by their station, so memorization is key. Thank you for working with your student to be successful with this project. Please take time this week to finalize how your student will be dressed for the presentation on the night of March 17th. Students do not need their clothing before that evening. I still have a few pieces of clothing to borrow, if needed.
There will be a daytime performance on Friday and family is welcome to join us if you wish. The morning performance (for the school students and staff) will begin at 8:30am. Please remind your child dress in red, white, and/or blue on Friday. On Friday night, there will be a display of their art starting at 5:30 in the gym. Students will need to arrive in my classroom between 6:30 and 6:45 dressed in their costume. They should put any props for their speeches at their spot. This should happen before they come to my room. Having a water bottle near their spot is a great idea, too. The Patriotic Performance begins at 7:00pm and will be done around 7:45. The Wax Museum will begin immediately after the performance and will conclude at 8:15. I know this makes for a long night, but the memories will last forever.
If your child is playing their recorder in the program they need to bring it to school this week, labeled with their name. They’ll be used them during the dress rehearsals this week.
Our next field trip will be on Thursday, March 23rd. We’ll be going to the Will- Stauffer farm which is a historic farm connected with Aurora Colony, in Aurora. The students from past years have LOVED this field trip. They do jobs around the historic farm that children would have done back in the mid to late 1800’s.
