As we continue to study the states and capitals, we move on to the northeast this week. This is typically the most difficult group of states for fourth graders. Even if your student has not studied at home up to now, I suggest each of them study about 5 minutes a day to help with this group. Our next quiz over these states will be on May 12. Do not forget to help them keep the previous states in their minds, because we will have a test over all 50 states and capitals on June 2.
Mrs. DeBra has asked me to remind you that there will be a book fair in the school library during the week of May 8th. Our class can bring money on Tuesday, the 9th, to purchase books during our library time. Your student brought home some information today, ask them for it. Check on the school website for additional information.
We have started our last book report. It will be done entirely in class. The students will need to have the book in class until May 12, so plan ahead if it needs to be renewed from a library.
A few parents have already stepped forward with some wonderful donations, but as a reminder; I like to have a fun auction for the students to spend their pennies earned throughout the year. If you have any items you can donate to the End of Year Auction, from now until the end of the May, I would appreciate it. Any inexpensive toys or crafts and fun items for the kids to do during summertime is what I am looking for. Items from the past have been: ice cream cone coupons, rubber balls, squirt guns, activity books. I accept gently used items too, if you want to get rid of something others would enjoy.
